Regular vs. Decaf Mushroom Coffee: Caffeine, Ingredients & Cost
Share
The main difference is caffeine. Beyond the Veil’s regular Mushroom Coffee contains 90 mg per serving. Our Swiss Water® Process Decaf Mushroom Coffee contains a small amount of residual caffeine, but its exact caffeine amount per serving has not been verified.
Both are instant coffee blends made with six mushroom extracts and come in 30-serving bags. Here is how to choose the one that fits your routine.

Does mushroom coffee contain caffeine?
Mushroom coffee can contain caffeine when its base is real coffee. Adding mushroom extracts does not make a caffeinated coffee decaf. Always compare the amount per serving, rather than assuming every mushroom coffee has the same caffeine content.
Our regular blend contains 90 mg in one tablespoon. Using two tablespoons means two servings, including 180 mg of caffeine.
Is Swiss Water® decaf completely caffeine-free?
Decaf does not mean zero caffeine. Swiss Water explains that decaffeination can leave residual caffeine. Its process information should not be treated as a laboratory measurement of our finished blend.
Our decaf uses Swiss Water® Process decaffeinated coffee. We disclose the residual caffeine rather than assigning an unverified number to your cup.
Which mushrooms are in each blend?
Both contain Lion’s Mane, Reishi, Chaga, Turkey Tail, Cordyceps, and Maitake. The 2,000 mg and 2,100 mg figures describe the total mushroom extract blend per serving, not the amount of each individual mushroom.
The decaf also contains organic agave inulin. That makes its ingredient list and serving weight different from the regular blend. The slightly larger mushroom extract amount does not, on its own, establish a stronger health effect.
Which one should you choose?
- Choose regular if you want caffeinated instant coffee and the lower listed cost per serving.
- Choose decaf if you prefer decaffeinated coffee and are comfortable with a small, unquantified residual caffeine amount.
- Compare the ingredients if agave inulin matters to your preferences.
Both are easy to prepare: measure one tablespoon, stir into water, and add milk or creamer if you like. See our hot, iced, and latte preparation guide.
